When away from the piano bench, I am a research scientist and an applied mathematician. My theoretical contributions to signal processing are well recognized in the literature.

While it may be a strange combination to some, sharing time between music and research feels natural to me. I have discovered that the creative process of jazz improvisation is quite similar to the way I interact with mathematics. Theoretically motivated intuitions can be a powerful supplement to creativity, and I am thrilled to pursue the complicated relationship between the two in both engineering and musical contexts.
